This is an exciting and challenging role for a qualified Pharmacist to support their central pharmacy manager, by fulfilling the role of ‘responsible pharmacist’ at their recently created central pharmacy in Bielefeld.

Whilst deputising for the central pharmacy manager you will be required to supervise the pharmacy team both within their central pharmacy, as well as supporting pharmacy technicians working remotely. You will ensure their new pharmacy model provides a safe and effective service, working within accepted legal and professional requirements. You will assist with meeting contractual key performance indicators for delivering dispended medication for patients to five dispensaries within the central region of Germany.
As the responsible pharmacist, you will perform a clinical check of prescribed medicines to be dispensed by the central pharmacy team. This will include medicines prescribed by German secondary care facilities, acute non-formulary and repeat prescription items. The top 500 prescribed items will be stocked routinely and dispensed directly by local dispensaries to patients.

You will liaise with professional colleagues in both primary and secondary care to resolve prescribing anomalies and ensure compliance with Medicine Management Policy; Defence Primary Healthcare prescribing policies and other therapeutic polices as agreed with the Authority.

Person Specification: The successful applicant should be a self-starter with supervisory experience, coupled with sound current clinical and medicines management experience. You must be educated to at least degree level in Pharmacy and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
A broad knowledge of healthcare delivery in primary and community care, coupled with experience of procurement is essential. You should have good IT skills and the vision to create organised systems of work. Experience of working outside the UK or in a military environment would be an advantage.
