Chief Scientist - London
The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is the professional body for pharmacists and pharmacy in England, Scotland and Wales. We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to lead the RPS strategy for science, scientist membership and associated leadership, provide scientific expertise for policy development and implementation across the 3 national Boards and the Expert Advisory Boards and to contribute to the work of the professional body in endeavours to improve public engagement with issues in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences.
The candidate will be a PhD qualified pharmacist or pharmaceutical scientist with extensive experience at the professorial level or equivalent. We will require post qualification experience in a position of responsibility in the pharmaceutical and/or biotechnological industry, hospital, government, academia or community, with proven record of achievement. Alongside this, we require a broad appreciation of all aspects of pharmaceutical science and their application to all sectors of the profession. Pharmacist preferred, member of the RPS essential and member of the Faculty preferred.
The role will be primarily based in the London office, but would require a flexible approach to travelling to our 3 national teams. We have flexibility in appointing a leader to the role up to 0.5wte and welcome applications for colleagues looking for a flexible way of working.
