Veterinary Clinical Services

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies (R(D)SVS), University of Edinburgh, is looking to recruit a motivated pharmacist to cover a 1 year maternity post.

The R(D)SVS is a world class centre of excellence in veterinary under-graduate and post-graduate training, research and primary care and specialist veterinary clinical care. You will be expected to oversee the smooth running of a pharmacy which is a critically important service that provides essential support to our three teaching hospitals.

You will be based in the Hospital for Small Animals which treats over 20 000 patients a year through our specialist referral and primary care clinics.

Working closely with the Director of the Hospital for Small Animals, your key responsibility will be to manage a closed pharmacy within the Hospital for Small Animals.
A key priority of the pharmacy team is to rapidly dispense medications to ensure smooth patient flow in the hospital.  You will also provide management overview of the Equine Hospital and Large Animal Practice pharmacies. You will also be actively involved in managing clinical governance issues. You will have excellent opportunities to engage in wider academic activities including our clinical trials programme and our large and ever expanding programme of clinical research.

You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team of other health care professionals.  A clinical and commercial background would be an advantage. Veterinary experience is not essential, as full training will be given.

If you would like more information please contact liz.wright@ed.ac.uk for an informal discussion regarding the post.
