An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Band 8A Pharmacist at either Colchester or Cranwell.

Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Pharmacist to join our Regional Headquarters (RHQ) Team within East Region. The RHQ is split into two locations and the successful candidate will be able to choose either Colchester or Cranwell as their permanent duty station.

The Post Holder will be responsible for the provision of specialist professional advice and leadership on prescribing and pharmaceutical issues to DPHC East Region whilst ensuring compliance with Medicine Legislation and congruence with the government framework.

In liaison with the HQ DPHC Pharmacist, provide support to and co-ordination of Medical Centres within East Region to ensure the delivery, within a medicines management framework, of a legal, safe, cost-effective and efficient high quality pharmaceutical service.

Post Holder will also be required to facilitate good relationships across the Region with all prescribers and other key Practice staff including pharmacy/dispensary staff and liaison with NHS organisations and teams, including those in secondary care and local Controlled Drug Accountable Officer networks, on Medicine Management issues as appropriate.

As this is an NHS Agenda for Change grade, employee’s salary and annual leave will be in line with NHS Terms and Conditions.

The post holder should be flexible and able to respond to the changing needs of primary healthcare. Must be able to work with others and have the ability to motivate and get the best out of people. Must be able to demonstrate management skills and work under pressure. Must have excellent communication skills and must be prepared and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.

The role is peripatetic and as a result the successful candidate is required to hold a Full UK driving licence.
