Announcement 1

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is seeking nominations for four members to serve on the Membership Committee and would like to invite you to consider putting your name forward.
The Committee is appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Assembly, and consists of a Chair, Vice Chair and eight other members of whom at least one will be a Fellow of the Society and the others will be Members of the Society.  Members of the National Pharmacy Boards are eligible for appointment but no member of the Committee will be a member of the Assembly of the Society. 

The Committee should broadly be representative of the profession.  The Committee provides staff with support and guidance in:

  •  implementing membership policy
  • developing policy for the functions of the committee
  • reviewing non-standard membership applications
  • administering the Conduct Scheme, including assessing the validity of complaints

The Committee hears appeals and prescribes appropriate and proportionate resolutions in accordance with the Society rules.

The Committee reports to the Assembly independently through an annual report, usually submitted at the November Assembly meeting.

Announcement 2

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is seeking nominations for three Fellows to serve on the Panel of Fellows’ Committee and would like to invite you to consider putting your name forward.

The Panel consists of six Fellows (one of whom is the Chairman of the Panel designated by Assembly) but none of whom is a member of the Society’s Assembly.

Candidates for membership of the Panel must have been Fellows for a period of six years and, if formerly a member of Assembly, will not have been or stood for membership of the Assembly for a period of six years.  Members of the Panel must still be active in the profession.

The composition of the Panel membership should reflect the different interests, aspects and structure of the Society and its individual members, the spectrum of academia, industry, NHS/hospital and community practice, as well as the regional interest and make up of the membership on the register.

The principal characteristics for a member of the Panel of Fellows should be based on a wide knowledge of the Society and its membership, and an ability to make an objective assessment of distinction and leadership in pharmacy and pharmaceutical care amongst candidates put forward for consideration.
