Job Type

We are looking for a pharmacist to help deliver pharmaceutical services as part of a small, influential pharmacy team within NHS Shetland. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in remote and rural clinical pharmacy, where opportunities for further training are supported and encouraged.

This is a training post and would suit a newly registered pharmacist or a pharmacist wishing to move from community pharmacy. It will enable you to-

  • Work effectively within the NHS across primary and secondary care
  • Use clinical skills around medicines management issues associated with long term conditions
  • Identify medicine related problems, and implement solutions at patient, practice, hospital and board level.
  • Develop communication skills with the ability to influence others, individually and collectively to achieve improvement.

This post will be based in primary care with around 25% of time spent in secondary care. We aim to train you to become a general practice pharmacist in line with the objectives in Prescription for Excellence. This is particularly relevant in remote and rural areas where you are expected to work as part of the wider clinical team and provide pharmaceutical care across primary, secondary and social care settings.
