Pharmacist in General Practice
We are a semi-rural market town practice offering an in-house dispensing service to approximately one third of our 14800 patients. We have a good relationship with our local pharmacies.
We endeavour to offer a local service to our patients to include the majority of chronic disease management, minor injuries and minor surgery.
We would value support from a Prescribing Pharmacist for a range of activities such as repeat medication reviews, including prescribing of chronic disease management, new medicines assessment, in particular acute requests from hospital clinics, and requests for other non repeat items. We would see a role within this for medicines optimisation work, as well as safe and cost effective prescribing working with CCG guidance.
We run a busy minor ailments clinic on site with no independent non Dr prescribing, so would look for a role supporting our nursing staff in running this very successful service . There would also be the possibility of a role for an extended role pharmacist to take part clinically in the minor ailments clinic as well as offering medications support.
Successful applicant would also offer support for our dispensary service (4600 patients) in audit for DSQS (Dispensing Services Quality Scheme), and review of SOPS, as well as in supporting our staff in effective procurement. We would expect a forward thinking applicant to look at compliance aids and delivery.
We are a hard working and friendly practice with an exceptional staff retention record. The team work together well and we are keen to extend the breadth of the team with input from a pharmacist.
