We are looking for Registered Pharmacy Technicians to join our medicines management teams at HMP Bristol and HMP Eastwood Park in South Gloucestershire. Our medicines management services are expanding and we need enthusiastic registered technicians to support this growth. Full and part-time hours are available.

Bristol Community Health is the leading provider of healthcare in west country prisons. We work in partnership with GPs, dentists, opticians and mental health professionals to support and encourage service users to take ownership of their health. If you would like the opportunity to join a forward thinking and innovative organisation with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of offender healthcare, then read on.

Our wing-based technicians are responsible for administering and supplying medicines to patients, delivering a minor ailments service, medicines reconciliation and supporting prescription pathways.

You will be part of an integrated health service in a challenging but interesting environment where you can help empower a vulnerable population to self-care and understand their medicines better. We are looking for candidates who are resilient, dedicated and non-judgemental.

HMP Bristol is an adult male prison catering for around 600 men who are either convicted or on remand. There is a dedicated substance misuse service, a healthcare suite and medical facilities across the prison wings. We are located in the north of Bristol, in Horfield just off the Gloucester Road.

HMP Eastwood Park is a female remand prison catering for over 400 women. There is a dedicated substance misuse unit and modern healthcare centre where we aim to provide holistic care equal to that in a community setting. The prison is located just off J14 of the M5, ample free parking on-site is available.

If you are a registered Pharmacy Technician (GPhC) with an NVQ in Pharmacy Services or equivalent qualification and a commitment to your professional and service development, we would like to hear from you.

Clinicians working in a prison receive a prison setting allowance and secure environment allowance of £1,250 per annum (pro rata) on top of their basic salary (as of 1st July 2015). As part of the recruitment you will be required to undergo prison security vetting and will be expected to commence this process within 10 working days of receiving a job offer.

Candidates are encouraged to come for a visit of the healthcare facilities and find out more about the prison environment and the diverse range of services we deliver to our patients.
