Deputy Director of Professional Standards and Support

Contract type: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Salary range: £65,000-70,000 per annum + excellent benefits

Location: London, 66-68 East Smithfield

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is the professional body for pharmacists and pharmacy in England, Scotland and Wales.  We have an exciting career opportunity for a passionate, enthusiastic individual to join our team in a senior role offering excellent prospects for career development.

The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of a range of member services including:

  • Development of higher-level professional standards and guidance documents which enable the RPS to lead and support the pharmacy and associated professions in achieving the highest possible levels of professional practice. 
  • Members’ professional support services and information resources
  • Coordinated support for policy and consultations working with the three Boards and teams for England, Scotland and Wales.
  • Development and delivery of the RPS training endorsement service
  • Supporting the Director of Professional Development, working with external organisations, partner groups and stakeholders on high level, strategic work streams of reputational significance to the organisation

The successful applicant will be an experienced pharmacist with a strong track record in managing and developing cross-functional teams, balancing competing demands and delivering in line with objectives and quality within a service environment. To manage an excellent support service that meets our members’ needs, you will need to have a sound understanding of the core issues encountered in daily pharmacy practice.

You will need experience and awareness of governance, financial and risk management and must be able to provide evidence of having produced high quality written professional resources at a national or regional level. 

RPS membership is an essential requirement for this role and RPS Faculty membership is desirable.
