Deputy Head of School of Pharmacy/Director of Pharmacy
Deputy Head of School of Pharmacy/Director of Pharmacy Education School of Pharmacy
Salary: From £58,655 per annum
This post is full time.
Closing Date: Wednesday 22 August 2018
The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a Director of Pharmacy Education/Deputy Head within the School of Pharmacy. This post comes at an exciting point in the Schools’ development. The Lincoln School of Pharmacy has recently gained full accreditation from the General Pharmaceutical Council, with no conditions or recommendations and in September will celebrate in Lincoln cathedral the graduation of its first cohort of students from our fully integrated, innovative and patient-facing MPharm programme. Furthermore, in line with the university’s commitment to science and healthcare, a new Medical School is also being established and will commence taking students from September 2019.
The School of Pharmacy, sits within the Joseph Banks Laboratories, in the city of Lincoln Brayford campus, which also houses the Schools of Life Sciences and Chemistry. This, along with the links to the School of Health and Social Care, the Lincoln Institute for Health, the new Medical School and the wider local health economy, fosters excellent opportunities for teaching, inter-professional development and learning, as well as research collaborations.
The School of Pharmacy delivers two undergraduate programmes: the BSc Pharmaceutical Sciences 3-year program, and the innovative and patient-focussed 4-year MPharm course. It also continues to expand its post-graduate research and teaching.
This appointment provides an opportunity for candidates who have either a strong research profile, or a strong teaching and professional practice profile, who wish to develop their academic management and leadership. The successful post holder will provide strategic leadership of the School of Pharmacy, be a member of the senior management team, deputise for the Head of School (when necessary) and provide academic leadership for the continuing development and delivery of the MPharm program, in line with the gold teaching excellence standard awarded to the university in 2017.
Appointments may be made to either the Teaching and Research (T&R) or Teaching, Scholarship and Professional Practice (TSPP) role profiles, and a professorial appointment may be possible if a candidate meets the University criteria for either role profile.
The post holder would ideally be a registered pharmacist and have:
Academic and leadership experience in academic pharmacy or the health care arena
A postgraduate certificate in teaching and learning in HE (or equivalent)
A track record of quality and innovation in teaching
A demonstrable track record of either research or scholarship and professional practice.
