The School of Pharmacy at Queen’s is rated amongst the top Schools of Pharmacy in the UK and rated first on the research intensity measure in the last UK assessment of university research quality (REF 2014). As part of an ambitious expansion programme, applications are now invited from outstanding individuals for a Chair in Pharmaceutical Global Health.  The successful applicant will develop and lead a competitive and world-leading research programme in Global Health pertaining to medicines that will complement the ongoing research in the School, the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences and across the University. 

The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge educational programmes within the School and provide leadership in innovation in teaching and assessment. 

Fractional appointments will be considered.

Please note it is intended to appoint at Chair level, however in the event this is not possible, consideration will be given to appointing at Reader level

The successful Chair will have:

- Honours degree in pharmacy or closely-related discipline

- PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline in pharmacy or closely-related discipline

-              Relevant and substantial research experience in pharmaceutical global health which complements that which is ongoing in the School, the Faculty and wider University.

 

- Relevant and substantial field experience in pharmaceutical global health practice

-              A sustained and substantial record of publications in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals relevant to pharmaceutical global health, including publications eligible for submission to the UK Research Excellence Framework at the highest international quality level. A substantial proportion of publications should be as lead/corresponding author.

 

-              Sustained record of playing a key role in successful bids for competitive, peer-reviewed national or international grants or other awards with external peer reviewed research funding as a Principal Investigator/or significant input as Co-Investigator over a sustained period

 

- Successful, sustained postgraduate student supervision

-              Strong research collaborations outside current institution and experience in leading or making significant contribution to interdisciplinary teams.

 

-              Recognised international expert in subject field as evidence by for example a sustained record of invited talks at international conferences/ events and UK and/ or international Higher Education Institutions or a track record of invited keynote or plenary lectures at conferences of national and international significance

 

-              Relevant experience of teaching students and in the supervision of students at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

Salary scale:  £51,630 to £59,828 per annum (potential to progress to £65,361 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution)
