This is to extend the availability of expertise in relation to clinical pharmacy and prescribing practice. This post will support the delivery of the pharmacy courses and both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  This is an exciting time to be involved with pharmacy initiatives within the school. We already have highly successful postgraduate course portfolio including an MSc Clinical Pharmacy Practice course and MSc Advanced Pharmacy Practice. In addition, we are among the largest providers in the UK of GPhC accredited pharmacist independent prescribing (PIP) education. Clinical services are developing rapidly in each of the sectors of pharmacy with many pharmacists taking on prescribing responsibilities. In turn this means that the undergraduate and postgraduate course provision is evolving and staff with clinical practice expertise are essential. In addition, we are considering the development of a new 5 year integrated MPharm course with enhanced experiential learning opportunities that will reflect aspects of clinical and prescribing practice.  In view of this, we want to appoint to a lecturing post that is focussed on teaching, learning and assessment initiatives around clinical and prescribing practice and the appointee with have opportunities to use their clinical knowledge and experiences to enhance and make relevant student learning. We are keen the post-holder show a desire to retain a practice base and commitment within an area of practice. There is some flexibility in the structuring of the post and we would be interested in applicants who may consider job share / part-time working, secondment or a full time appointment.  The School has established three research themes that align directly with the principal areas of delivery across the taught provision. These three areas are: chemical Sciences, biological Sciences and clinical practice. Each of these areas is led by an experienced Professor with a proven international research reputation and track record in generating external funding. An interest in evaluating and developing practice through contributions to quality improvement and evaluative research would also be desirable. Applicants must be a GPhC registered Pharmacist with annotation on the register as an Independent Prescriber. Some experience as an active prescriber experience would be desirable.  This post in subject to the individual being required to join the PVG scheme.
