The Pharmacy Department is based within of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England. They are ambitious and forward thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always at the heart of everything they do.

Following a merger of a number of hospitals a new senior management team structure has been developed to support the Chief Pharmacist. The Associate Chief Pharmacist – Clinical Services is a key role in the new structure and you will be joining the Trust at an exciting time, whilst at the early stages of the merger.

The Role: They are seeking a dynamic, forward thinking and innovative senior pharmacist to fulfil the role of Associate Chief Pharmacist – Clinical Services within the Trust.

You will lead by example, be energetic, customer focused, flexible and enjoy working at both operational and strategic levels. You must be an excellent communicator, with strong attention to detail. You will understand the complex business needs of a large hospital-based pharmacy service. Engaging and negotiating with colleagues at all levels, you will expand the influence of pharmacy for the benefit of patients ensuring medicines are optimised across the Trust. This is a demanding but rewarding role that requires excellent time management and prioritisation skills and the ability to communicate at levels both within and outside the organisation.

You will support the Chief Pharmacist in providing clinical leadership and specialist expertise with the ability to enthuse and manage team members. You will have demonstrable prior experience of working in a similar role for an Acute NHS Trust or equivalent position in the private sector. You will also have experience of managing clinical, technical and patient pharmacy services with a proven track record of achievements, including the introduction of innovation, alongside successful operational changes and savings.

You will lead a portfolio of acute service management, innovation and improvement schemes and be responsible for delivering against key quality, safety and performance indicators. You will lead the business and strategic planning process for pharmacy and medicines management services and be responsible for supporting, facilitating and monitoring the performance and progress of the work of the service.

You must demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be self-motivated and resilient.

Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time management skills are also essential. Representation at national networks and professional groups is expected.

Candidates will be an accomplished pharmacist professional with the ability to lead their clinical services agenda and take a pivotal role in aligning clinical services across this merged organisation. You will be influential and credible with the ability to work across all their clinical directorates and corporate services. You will need to demonstrate an ability to work in partnership and with key stakeholders across the health and social care system.
