Licensing Pharmaceutical Assessor - £39,264 - £51,543 p.a. + benefits

Wouldn’t it be great if your job benefited millions of people all over the world?

If you or someone you know has ever taken a medicine, we will have evaluated and licensed it. As such the work we do touches the lives of everybody and each of our employees contributes in one way or another.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for Pharmaceutical Assessors to join the Product Lifecycle Assessment Teams (PLATs) within our Licensing Division.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The agency is made up of c.1300 staff working across two main centres and peripatetically across the UK and abroad.

The Licensing Division within MHRA is responsible for assessing and approving applications for marketing authorisations. These may be for new medicinal products (new active substances), new routes of administration or new formulations of existing drugs, generic drugs, parallel import applications, or herbals and homeopathic products. In addition, the Licensing Division has the responsibility for assessing and granting clinical trial authorisations. The Division’s activities span national and European licensing, making a full contribution to the Mutual Recognition system and the Centralised system operated by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

The work that our Pharmaceutical Assessors do is incredibly unique and interesting. Your working day could consist of anything from assessing an application for a new active substance, a novel dosage form, or a generic medicine, to providing scientific advice to companies around pharmaceutical/regulatory issues for development of new drug products. A comprehensive training programme is in place to support and develop suitable candidates new to this role.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in one or more of the following areas: regulatory affairs, research and development, manufacture or quality control of medicinal products - within academia, the pharmaceutical industry or hospital pharmacy.

Attention to detail, the ability to apply critical thinking and excellent communication skills are essential in this role as they will be needed to resolve complex problems.

The successful candidate will have a degree in Pharmacy and be registered with the UK General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or be eligible to be registered with the GPhC through an equivalent registration body for pharmacists in another EU country. To check eligibility please follow this link:
