About the role

Are you a Pharmacist with a special interest in mental health?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Pharmacy Department at Noble's Hospital, to contribute to medicines optimisation and patient safety in the area of Acute Mental Health Services. Our MHS teams include: Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, CAMHS, Learning Disabilities, Neuropsychiatry and substance misuse.

You will provide a ward-based clinical pharmacy service to acute Mental Health Services, as well as clinical service (e.g. prescription screening in the Pharmacy). You will be involved in all aspects of the departmental activity, including both on-call and working on a Saturday (rota basis) to ensure the continuity of professional service is maintained.

At Noble’s Hospital, you can also step away from UK NHS pressures and demands, as the Island's NHS is separate to the UK, but still free at the point of contact.

You will spend roughly half your time on the mental health wards and roughly half your time in the Pharmacy. You will also have the opportunity to support wider clinical pharmacy work within Noble’s Hospital, allowing you to gain hospital experience and knowledge in areas outside of mental health.

Day to day you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties, these will include:

  • Prescriptions
  • Blood monitoring
  • Supporting patients with drug history
  • Reviewing medicine charts
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Working with technicians
  • Taking part in consultant ward rounds
  • Working on patient treatment/discharge plans
  • Contributing to the development of mental health services on the Island

This role will allow you to make a big contribution to mental health services with patient safety and medicine optimisation. Each day you will face new challenges, and you will need to be flexible and decisive to achieve success in this role.

This role may also qualify for a recruitment incentive of £3000 which will be payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.

Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
