About the role and our team

Are you a Pharmacist with a special interest in mental health?

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our small friendly team within the Pharmacy Department at Noble's Hospital on the Isle of Man. You will contribute to medicines optimisation and patient safety in the area of Acute Mental Health Services (MHS). Our MHS teams include: Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry, CAMHS, Learning Disabilities, Neuropsychiatry and substance misuse.

You will provide a ward-based clinical pharmacy service to Acute Mental Health Services, as well as pharmacy-based clinical service (e.g. prescription screening in the Pharmacy). You will be involved in all aspects of the departmental activity, including on-call where pay allowance will be available and working on a Saturday (rota basis), to ensure the continuity of professional service is maintained. 

Roughly half your time will be spent on the mental health wards and half your time in the Pharmacy. You will also have the opportunity to support wider clinical pharmacy work within Noble’s Hospital, allowing you to gain hospital knowledge and experience in areas outside of mental health.

Day to day you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties, these will include:

  • Prescriptions
  • Blood monitoring
  • Supporting patients with drug history
  • Reviewing medicine charts
  • Medication reconciliation
  • Taking part in consultant ward rounds
  • Working on patient treatment/discharge plans

Interview expenses and a relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month. This role also qualifies for a recruitment incentive of £3000, payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
