We are seeking to fill several positions within our Accreditation and Recognition panel, the group of experts who quality-assure courses on our behalf. One lay person, two recently-registered pharmacy technicians and six recently-registered pharmacists are currently needed. The Roles are Part-time and on a Fixed Term Contract.

The role:

Panel members use their expertise to make sure course provision being accredited is fit for purpose, through rigorous application of the GPhC’s education and training standards, making judgements on the basis of evidence. Accreditation and Recognition panel members are remunerated for their work and expenses are paid.

Panel members will be involved in around six or more days of accreditation events per year, plus preparatory and follow up work. Accreditation and recognition events take place both by video conference and at sites around the around the UK, panel members must therefore be willing to travel and stay overnight on occasions.

We are looking for individuals to join us at the start of the 2022/23 academic year with experience of collaborative decision making, who are deft at considering written and verbal evidence in a balanced way and who can apply knowledge and experience to decision making in a fair and transparent manner. All candidates will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

  • Lay Team Member (x1):

We are seeking individuals who are not registrants of the GPhC or any other health or social care body, with experience of representing patients and the public to provide the lay view-point on the panel.

  • Recently-registered Pharmacy Technicians (x2) and recently-registered Pharmacists (x6) Team Members:

These positions on the panel provide a unique viewpoint from those who have recently undertaken initial education and training and are at the start of their pharmacy career. We are seeking registrants who:

  • Will have been registered with the GPhC/PSNI for no more than two years as of 1 October 2022.
  • Completed a combined knowledge and competence course/qualification (pharmacy technicians)
  • Completed either an MPharm degree or Overseas Pharmacists’ Assessment Programme (OSPAP) (pharmacists)

About the GPhC:

We are a respected regulatory body that regulates pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacies in Great Britain. We work to assure and improve standards of care for people using pharmacy services.

One of our principal functions is to ensure the quality of pharmacy education and training. The Accreditation and Recognition Panel is formed of a group of experts who quality-assure courses on our behalf.
