Lead Pharmacist

you will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical support to the Surgical Division along with the provision of dispensary services. You will also be required to be a member of the Pharmacy Board. Our client is a progressive and forward-looking organisation with ambitious plans to improve quality and integrate patient pathways. Having already successfully implemented the ePMA system to streamline prescribing and medicines administration. A generous relocation package will also be offered to the successful candidate. Job Purpose Provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy and medicine management service to the Surgical Division. Provide expert advice, at a highly specialist level, on pharmaceutical matters. Responsible for the development, monitoring and review of medicines related guidelines to the Surgical Specialities Directorate. Managerial responsibilities to include budget management, reviews, and supervision of junior staff. Main Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to) To be the lead pharmacist for pharmacy service and medicines optimisation to the Surgical Division. Proactively develop dispensary and medicines optimisation services in line with national and local targets/standards. Represents the Pharmacy Department on committees and groups appropriate to this post in their own right, or as support to the Clinical Director of Pharmacy. Manages the development and monitoring of standards and key performance indicators for the provision of Pharmacy Services and Medicines Optimisation. Provides clinical pharmacy services at ward and department level to maintain service where appropriate. Co-ordinates and reviews the allocated Clinical Audit Programme, as it relates to Medicines Optimisation and delivery of a Model Hospital Pharmacy. Takes responsibility for ensuring Clinical Audit takes place in allocated areas. Maintains appropriate audit and feedback tools for the evaluation and development of services in partnership with service users. Works closely with the Lead Pharmacist, Medical Division to manage the training and development of pharmacists and pre-registration Pharmacists to deliver a Model Hospital Pharmacy Service. Assists in the development of Trust wide input to staff induction and training processes relating to Medicines Optimisation and Patient safety. Manages the pharmacy staff for the allocated specialties and within the Pharmacy Department where appropriate. Ensures that Staff Performance and Development Reviews (SPDR’s) are completed for all allocated staff, in accordance with the Trust’s Policy and the Trust’s targets, and that Personal Development Plans are developed for each member of staff as part of the

SPDR, and that appropriate training is facilitated. Develops initiatives resulting in cost-effective use of resources, resulting in improved patient care, and more efficient service. Assists the Clinical Director of Pharmacy in budget setting and highlighting changes in clinical practice likely to cause cost pressures for the Trust or NHS England/Integrated Care Boards/Local Health Boards for PbR excluded drugs. Deputises for the Clinical Director of Pharmacy, when appropriate. Knowledge & Skills required BSc Pharm or MPHARM. Registered with the GPHC. Significant hospital pharmacy experience, especially within Surgical related specialities. Evidence of CPD post registration. Ability to demonstrate key management skills with a qualification in management desirable.
