Job summary
Are you looking for an exciting and challenging opportunity in a unique environment? If so, why not consider joining our friendly and dynamic Pharmacy Team at Jersey General Hospital in the Channel Islands.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Pharmacist Oncology and Technical Services for a fixed 12 month contract. You will be the Accountable Pharmacist for the Technical Services Unit where we produce injectable chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition to a wide variety of the island’s patients.
You will provide professional leadership in the co-ordination of technical pharmacy services and training of staff including other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, work in close collaboration with other professionals and follow set departmental procedures and policies, as well as provide clinical support to the Oncology/Haematology unit.
You will be involved in supporting a number of new future developments. We currently use Wellsky systems, and both Envair positive pressure isolators and Cirrus negative pressure isolators for production within the Technical Services unit. The hospital has recently implemented EPMA on the wards, with roll out to our outpatient clinics underway. The implementation of a chemotherapy EPMA is also to be implemented in the future.
As part of this role you will also sit on the Pharmacy Operational Management team, negotiating with other service managers to manage complex operational issues on a day to day basis.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday, with weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rota basis.
You must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Previous Technical services experience is essential, with additional experience on Oncology wards.
