Do you have practical/hands-on laboratory experience of nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry (NMR) instruments, analyses and activities? Do you enjoy using your technical and scientific expertise to solve analytical problems? Do you have the potential to manage a team of NMR laboratory technicians within a wider team of scientists specialising in Analytical Chemistry and Biology?

You will perform a combination of the following tasks:

  • prepare, co-ordinate, plan and carry out practical, one- and two-dimensional, qualitative, and quantitative NMR experiments on 400 MHz and 600 MHz NMR instruments during the establishment/production of reference standards;
  • follow up NMR studies, review results and prepare laboratory reports;
  • provide analytical (technical and scientific) NMR expertise to devise suitable solutions to analytical problems;
  • contribute to the development of analytical methods, and the evaluation of procedures, to define qualitative and quantitative attributes of substances;
  • gather and assess information on the physico-chemical attributes and quality of substances for pharmaceutical use and medicinal products;
  • further extend your knowledge in NMR and, potentially, other analytical techniques;
  • develop towards managing NMR laboratory technicians; coach and motivate the team, evaluate their performance, foster co-operation and team spirit, encourage the team to achieve its objectives;
  • participate in internal meetings, working groups, ad hoc projects, and contribute to scientific events;
  • remain aware of scientific and technical advances in the field of NMR to assess their potential impact on and uses in the EDQM laboratory.
