The Faculty of Science is developing a new five year integrated M.Pharm Pharmacy programme at the Sligo campus, to address national shortages in the Pharmacy profession, building upon its existing academic profile in Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Biomedical, Clinical Physiology, Nursing and Health Sciences.  This is an opportunity for an academic or pharmacist to influence a new programme’s development from its inception. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Pharmacy.

As a key academic staff member, you will report to the Head of Department of Pharmacy.  Your new role will initially have a strong focus on curriculum development, programme accreditation, and professional and regulatory body compliance of the new M.Pharm Pharmacy degree programme (due to commence in September 2025) and associated programmes in this area. A comprehensive knowledge of Pharmacy programme structures, APPEL (Affiliation for Pharmacy Practice Experiential Learning), Pharmacy work-based learning and assessment, Pharmacy education and accreditation requirements are required for this role.

We are looking to appoint a Lecturer with experience in Pharmacy and Pharmacology, and experience of placement and professional practice structures (as defined by the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland).  Ideally the appointee should have experience in the Higher Education sector in Pharmacy and Pharmacology, and an awareness of clinical pharmacy, practice placements and planning of placements, regulatory compliance in Irish or European/EU settings, and relevant pedagogical approaches in Pharmacy teaching.  Following the programme commencing in September 2025, the appointee will have a key role in the delivery of the M.Pharm programme curriculum and assessment, ongoing academic quality and accreditation, as well as ongoing Pharmacy programme development.  You will also be expected to contribute to the development of Pharmacy-related postgraduate programmes, as well as other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes appropriate to your expertise.
